WITH THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF USE, neem has long been considered one of the most versatile plants known. This intensely bitter and cool herb comes with a long list of uses for both internal and external support, bringing its lightening, purifying, and drying qualities to the skin, hair, blood, mouth, liver, lymph, and beyond.*
NEEM IS ONE OF AYURVEDA’S most celebrated herbs for healthy skin and a clear complexion. Externally, it cools, soothes, and lubricates the skin, hair, nails, and scalp, while internally, it helps purify the blood and liver, encourages a healthy lymphatic system, and cleanses out toxins.*
NEEM POWDER can be made into a paste used for DIY skin care, at-home facials, hair treatments, and—for the adventurous who don’t mind the bitter taste—as an herbal toothpaste to cleanse the mouth. With so many ways to use this powder, it is no wonder neem is an essential herb in many homes.*

Neem trees have been revered for centuries. Some communities refer to their nearest neem tree as the “village dispensary” because so many parts of it can be used in formulas to support the body’s health. Neem powder is made from the powerfully cooling and bitter neem leaves, which have been traditionally used as an herbal blood purifier, liver cleanser, and immune booster. It is also commonly used to soothe the skin, teeth and gums.*
Neem powder is very versatile. It can be used externally as a paste to help cool and lubricate the skin, hair, and nails, or internally to support the liver, pancreas, and digestive tract.*
To make neem paste, mix neem leaf powder with a small amount of water. You an apply neem paste on the skin and nails, or as a hair treatment. Let sit for about 20 minutes, then rinse and pat dry.*
For internal use, add 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon to warm water and drink once or twice daily. Be warned—neem has a very bitter taste! It is said that this bitterness helps improve one’s overall palette.*
You can also use neem paste as part of your daily oral hygiene routine. Apply the paste directly to the teeth and gums before or after oil pulling.*
