Omeprazole delayed release orally Disintegrating tablets 20 mg, Strawberry flavor, acid Reducer, melts in your mouth & dissolves without water. This product comes in a new form for treating frequent heartburn that occurs 2 or more days per week. When taken as directed, Omeprazole deactivates acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining to inhibit acid production at the source. This product is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn; may take 1 to 4 days for full effect.

Omeprazole is a PPI

A Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) can stop heartburn before it starts by shutting off the cells that “pump” acid into the stomach. Relief can last for 24 hours. PPIs are taken for 14 days.

H2s

H2 Blockers, “block” signals that tell your stomach to produce acid. Relief can start in as little as 30 minutes, but benefits may only last for 6-12 hours.

Antacids

Antacids can neutralize, but not reduce, the stomach acid that causes heartburn. Relief can be immediate, but it may only last for 1-3 hours.

Avoid heartburn-causing foods that are acidic, spicy, rich and fatty, as well as caffeinated beverages, alcohol and certain fruits and vegetables. These can trigger frequent heartburn episodes.

Lifestyle factors, including smoking, stress and wearing tight fit clothes, can trigger uncomfortable heartburn symptoms.

Weight gain that leads to being overweight or obesity may either cause or worsen heartburn. Talk to your doctor about lifestyle changes that may help you to lose weight and decrease frequent heartburn symptoms.

You may experience worsening or more frequent heartburn if you routinely eat late at night – just before going to sleep. Try to eat at least 2-3 hours before bedtime so your body has time to digest before you lie down. Also, elevating the head of your bed may provide additional relief.
