How Do I Choose a Dress Form?

Dritz dress forms for sewing are adjustable so you can personalize the form to match your measurements. We have form styles for women, men, and children. Compare your measurements to the dress form measurement chart, also considering clothing size.

Step 2: Determine Features

When choosing dress forms for sewing, you'll need to determine which features are important to you considering your need to design pants, pinning preference, stand type, hem markers, etc.

*Dress sizes are approximate ranges. For the most accurate selection, we recommend using body measurements to determine the correct dress form size.

Step 1: Determine Measurements

Measure chest over the fullest part.
Measure natural waist – the area where your waistband most comfortably sits.
Take hip measurement 7”-9” below the waistline. This should be the widest part of your hip area.
Measure back waist length from neck to natural waist.
Measure from waist to the floor. Add this to the back waist length to find the height from neck to floor.
Measure from the shoulder to the center of the chest (women).
Measure around the base of neck.
Measure the shoulder across the back from side to side.
