When to apply the film?

It is permissible to apply it immediately following the tattoo session. In this case, lymph, ichor, and pigment remain trapped behind the coating, creating bubbles. It will not affect healing. Do not use any aftercare creams before applying the film!

The film can be used a few hours after the tattoo process is complete when the ichor and lymph have ceased to depart; in this case, the tattoo must be well cleaned before putting the film, which must be applied carefully and firmly to the skin.

How to apply the film?

The film's edge should be 1-2 inches bigger than the tattoo area on each side; please do not ignore this rule. If one piece of the film is insufficient to cover a single tattoo, it can be overlapped 1-2 inches. It is critical to note that the skin should be smooth and hairless since this allows for the optimum fit and removal of the film. Wipe the tattoo dry and begin to cover it with a film.

How to apply a film on elbows or knees?

To ensure that the film adheres effectively to the moving area of the body, it is necessary to stretch the skin as much as possible. If the tattoo is on the elbow, instruct the client to fully bend the arm and maintain this position until the film has been placed completely. Additionally, we suggest that you cover such areas with a film that has been cut into strips and overlapped with each other. Thus, the client will have an easier bending and unbending of the joint.

Recommendations:

- Remove the film only when the tattoo has begun to heal.

- Invite your client to remove the film after five days if possible.

- If this is not possible, provide quick INSTRUCTIONS to the client: Draw the film's edge in the opposite direction, at an angle of roughly 15 degrees. Remove the film gradually while maintaining tension. Do not make the film wet. Please do not remove it in the shower! After removal, wash the tattoo and soak it in warm, running water for 3-5 minutes to remove any residual glue. You cannot scrub or rub the skin with washcloths. After washing, your tattoo will regain its original brilliance. Begin taking care of your tattoo immediately with specific care creams!

What should be explained to the client before he leaves?

Please explain to the client that the film must remain firmly attached to the tattoo for the entire five days following application. The location of the film should be as permeable to oxygen as possible. You may shower with warm water but avoid steaming the tattoo place for the first five days.

The ichor will continue to be visible beneath the film for the first 24 hours. Because some of the colors will flow out of the skin along with the ichor, the tattoo may appear smeared. Ichor is the initial substance that initiates the skin regeneration process. Explain that this is a perfectly normal wound healing process. Bubbles may occur beneath the film at this point and can not be burst. The next phase is shrinkage of the film, at which time the skin will itch - this is a typical reaction to well-healed skin. Explain that scratching the tattoo might damage the film, leading to skin infections. If the film gets damaged, that area must be covered with a bandage, and it is no longer waterproof. After five days, you can remove the patch and follow the normal film removal instructions.
