Cornelia "Corrie" ten Boom (1892-1983) was a Dutch Christian who, along with her father and other family members, helped many Jews escape the Holocaust during World War II. Her life story, The Hiding Place, was originally released in 1971 and has since been a longtime bestselling memoir, inspiring readers around the world. She shared her experiences in more than sixty countries and was honored by the state of Israel for her work during the war. She passed in 1983, on her 91st birthday.
During the Second World War, the ten Boom home became a refuge, a hiding place, for fugitives and those hunted by the Nazis. Thanks to their efforts, the ten Boom family and their many friends and co-workers saved the lives of an estimated 800 Jews and other refugees.
In 1944, the ten Boom family was betrayed and their home was raided. More than 30 people were arrested, including the ten Boom family. Corrie and her sister Betsie were sent to Ravensbrück Concentration Camp in Germany. They spent their time sharing Jesus' love with their fellow prisoners.
After her release at age 53, Corrie traveled the world to tell everyone that "there is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still."
