Solidly Evangelical
David G. Peterson, like most evangelicals, regards the Bible as God’s divine and authoritative revelation and has spent his career illuminating it's meaning through rigorous exegesis and special attention to biblical theology. Peterson served as Senior Research Fellow at Moore Theological College in Sydney, Australia and as Principle of Oak Hill College from 1996 to 2007. Peterson is ordained in the Anglican Church of Australia.
Scripture’s Text Illuminated
As with all volumes in the Pillar series, Peterson’s commentary on Acts makes clear the flow and meaning of the text. Using secondary scholarship judiciously, Peterson skillfully links exegesis of the text with critical issues in biblical and systematic theology. Throughout, Peterson remains focused on the message of Acts, underscoring that commitment at every turn.
Greek-based Exposition
Peterson’s commentary is expositional in style and based on a verse-by-verse exegesis of the Greek text. Yet, while Greek is referenced throughout, it is not necessary to understand that language to use the commentary extensively. References appear in parentheticals and readers can use them or ignore them as they wish.
For Pastors, Scholars, and Laity
Whether you're preaching, teaching, or just studying the Bible on your own or in a group, David G. Peterson’s commentary will help you achieve a detailed understanding of Acts. Designed for easy navigation, the commentary is easy to adapt to your needs and focuses both on key details and broader theological themes such as Paul's teaching, the role of the Spirit, and early Christian development.

Praise for The Acts of the Apostles
Craig S. Keener, Palmer Theological Seminary
"David Peterson interacts with Acts scholarship fairly and in an up-to-date way; his literary and historical conclusions are well informed and sound. His introduction airs issues thoroughly, yet the entire work is easy to follow. Peterson consistently engages the cohesive, larger picture and the theological message of the book."
I. Howard Marshall, University of Aberdeen
"This commentary is noteworthy for its incorporation of a full essay on the theology of Acts and its careful attention to theological issues in the course of the exposition; at the same time it does not neglect historical and literary matters. I warmly commend this useful tool for study."
Brian S. Rosner, Moore Theological College
“David Peterson’s excellent exposition of Acts interacts insightfully with those studies and offers a lucid, compelling, and satisfying interpretation of the book. Like its subject, this commentary is informative, edifying, and challenging. Pastors and teachers will find it to be an invaluable guide to reading Acts with profit.”
Darrell Bock, Dallas Theological Seminary
“Acts is a crucial bridge book in the New Testament, linking the era of Jesus with the emergence of what became the church. A skilled guide is needed to take one through such a key book. With a superb introduction and solid commentary, David Peterson has done just that in this discerning treatment of Acts. His book is a real gift to those who want to get to know this important piece of the canon.”
