Tips on How to Achieve Couleur Experte Looks
Harmonizing Highlight:
Step 1: For better results, dry your hair into your usual style before highlighting. If you prefer to highlight on damp hair, comb towel-dried hair into your usual style.
Step 2: Put on the fresh pair of gloves provided.
Step 3: Pour entire contents of Illuminating Crème Developer (bottle 2A) into the mixing well in Tray 2. Add Illuminating Powder (Packet 2B) to the mix. Thoroughly blend with the Spatula until the mixture turns into a cake-frosting texture without lumps (about 2 minutes).
Option A: Apply with Easy-Glide Highlighter.
Step 1: Make sure your hair is completely detangled. Dip spatula into mixture and apply by smoothly spreading onto sponges of the Easy-Glide Highlighter. TIP: For shorter hair apply mixture onto sponge on one side of the applicator. For longer hair apply mixture onto sponges of both sides of the applicator.
Step 2: Starting at the front of your hair, lift and separate the strands of hair you want to highlight. Select thinner strands of hair for subtle highlights. Select wider pieces for a more dramatic look.
Step 3: Starting 1/4-inch away from the root, glide the strand of hair through the Easy-Glide Highlighter toward your ends. Completely saturate hair with product evenly on both sides from root to tip. Lay strand down gently. The mixture will not spread.
Tips:
- You should apply enough product to a strand of hair to see a ribbon of blue bleach covering the entire strand. The more product applied, the more pronounced the highlight.
- Alternate application from left to right side after each strand to ensure even placement of highlights around your head.
- Ensure that product is spread evenly from root to tip and avoid leaving clumps of product at the root.
Option B: Apply with the Wand.
Step 1: Make sure hair is completely detangled. Starting at the front, lift and separate thin strands you want to highlight.
Step 2: Dip brush end of wand into mixture and apply a generous amount of product on strand 1/4-inch away from the scalp out to the ends. TIP: Do not brush mixture directly on your head.
Step 3: Gently smooth out product and saturate hair evenly on both sides and from root to tip.
Step 4: Lay the highlighted strand back on your head; the highlights will not spread. Continue highlighting, making sure each strand is evenly and thickly coated. Alternate from side to side as you work all the way around to ensure your highlights are even and balanced around your head.
Time: Immediately after applying the last highlight, start timing. For subtle results, leave on for 10-15 minutes. For more visible highlights, leave on for 15-25 minutes.
Tip: Check lightening after 10 minutes by wiping some highlighting mixture off of a strand of hair. Thin/fine hair may lighten more quickly than thick/coarse hair.
Rinse and Condition:
Step 1: Keep your gloves on and thoroughly rinse hair with warm water.
Step 2: Saturate your hair with Multi-moisture Crème Conditioner. Leave on for 2 minutes and rinse. Dry and style as usual.
Tip : Keep remaining Conditioner for use once a week. To keep your color looking its best, do not shampoo your hair for 24 hours after coloring.
