1. MFRC522 is a highly integrated contactless (13.56MHz) card reader chip.
2. This sending module uses the principle of modulation and demodulation, and fully integrates them into various non-contact communication methods and protocols (13.56MHz).
4. The internal transmitter part of MFRC522 can drive the reader/writer antenna to communicate with IS014443A/MIFARE card and answering machine, without other circuits.
5. The receiver part provides a powerful and efficient demodulation and decoding circuit to process IS014443A/MIFARE compatible cards and transponder signals.
6. The digital circuit part processes the complete IS014443A frame and error detection (parity & CRC).
7. MFRC522 supports MIFARE Classic (for example, MIFARE standard) devices.
8. MFRC522 supports MIFARE's higher-speed non-contact communication, with a two-way data transfer rate of up to 424kbit/s.
9. The MF522-AN module adopts Philips MFRC522 original chip to design the card reading circuit, which is easy to use and low in cost. It is suitable for users of advanced applications such as equipment development, card reader development, and users who need to design/produce radio frequency card terminals.
10. MF RC522 has many similarities with MF RC500 and MF RC530, but also has many characteristics and differences. The communication between it and the host adopts SPI mode, which is beneficial to reduce the connection, reduce the size of the PCB board, and reduce the cost.

The picture above is the interface definition of the RC522 RFID module. It can be seen from the picture that the RC522 RFID module supports UART interface, I2C bus interface and SPI programmable interface
RFID RC522 Module and Raspberry Pi connection
The RC522 module has 8 pins, but we only need to connect 7 of them to the GPIO interface of the Raspberry Pi.
The SPI interface of the Raspberry Pi must be enabled first. By default, the SPI interface of the Raspberry Pi is disabled. You can enter the system configuration from the command line "sudo raspi-config" to open it, or enter the "Raspberry Pi Configuration" panel from the desktop to open it.
