Applying Stainless Steel Contact Paper

You can easily apply the contact paper to appliances at home. The following DIY instructions will help you cover your refrigerator.

Step 1: Measure the surface area of the front and both the sides of the refrigerator, except the rear. Also measure the edges of the doors if you intend to cover them too.

Step 2: Take off the handles of the refrigerator if possible.

Step 3: Clean all the surfaces of the refrigerator that you wish to cover, using a kitchen cleaner.

Step 4: Wipe the refrigerator dry using a sponge cloth.

Step 5: Cut a sheet of contact paper according to the measurement of one side of the refrigerator, e.g. the left side.

Step 6: Peel off the top of the paper backing, and line up the top of the contact paper with the topmost border of the refrigerator. Gently press and stick the contact paper downwards, while simultaneously peeling the paper backing from behind. While doing so, make sure that the paper does not crease or trap air bubbles inside. Continue doing this till you cover the entire surface and reach the bottom border of the refrigerator.

Step 7: Squeegee the contact-paper applied surface to remove any extra traces of air bubbles.

Step 8: Apply the contact paper to the remaining sides in this similar fashion. However, while applying the paper to the front, cut it around the drink dispensers or handles that cannot be removed, using a utility knife. If you have removed the handles, use an ice pick to make holes in the contact paper at the screw holes. Reattach the handles once you are done with applying and squeegeeing the contact paper.

The same steps apply for covering other appliances too. However, before applying the contact paper, you need to ensure that the surface is free from grime. This is because, even the minutest dust particle will show underneath the paper. Also, if your measurements turn out be inaccurate, then your paper, time, and effort will go waste. Therefore, take care of the small details as discussed above, and you will have a newly renovated kitchen in no time, that too without much expense.

Step 1. Prepare the surface and tools

Make sure the surface to be covered is cleaned, dry,

and free from grease. If the surface is rough or uneven,

rub it over with sandpaper to smooth and level it

Step 2. Measure surface and cut wallpaper

Measure the length and width of the surface to be covered,

If the surface shape is complex one, sketch a rough outline

of it in a notebook and write measurements for each part

of the outline on your sketch.

Step 3. Apply peel and stick

Smooth the wallpaper flat and make sure it will fit the surface properly

,free one corner of the backing paper,then pull more backing paper free

until expose around 1/4 inch of backing.Press the 1/4-inch wallpaper

against the surface you wish to cover. Work slowly from one corner of

the strip to the other.

Step 4. Smoothing the wallpaper to avoid wrinkles and air bubbles. Trim off excess

Gently pull the rest of the 1/4-inch paper.Take your time to get this right.

Working from side-to-side to keep the paper smooth,flatten out wrinkles

and expel any air that might get trapped and form a bubble.If wrinkles and

bubbles do occur,gently tear the wallpaper free and try again

Continue drawing off the backing and smoothing until the whole surface has been covered. Trim off any excess wallpaper.

How to install ?

Installation guide come packed with wallpaper roll. Kindly unpack it carefully. Stainless steel look wallpaper is similar with real metal finish, please careful to avoid making crease before stick.

Is it wide enough ?

It is 15.8 inch wide. If the surface going to be covered is wider. please kindly overlap the edge of contact paper to cover whole item, the seam is invisible. or below have wider width contact paper for choose.

Wrinkles or bubbles ?

Incorrected installation would form bubbles or wrinkles, please take your time to install. If bubbles do occur, please use a small pin to poke the bubble and smooth down from edge toward hole.

Can stick on textured wall ?

Textured walls' dips, holes, and gaps reduce the surface area that can contact the wallpaper. The wallpapers will fall down easier than on flat walls, please read below tips before stick-on textured wall: 1. Sand your walls into smooth & dust-free before stick on wallpaper. Or 2. Spray 3M adhesive(or liquid paste) to fill in the gaps & other low spots on wall to make sure sticky wallpaper good attached to your walls.
