A Heart of Surrender
Have you ever tried to hold God accountable for what you think he should do and when you think he should do it? Ooof, I know I sure have. Doing this can often leave us feeling upset and discouraged, especially when we pray desperate prayers for someone we love dearly. Learning to trust God’s plan and timing is crucial when you’re praying for the long haul. It really does come down to trust. When we can learn to trust in God’s plan and trust that his heart is for us and the future of those we love, then we can surrender our own ideas of change and place them in the hands of the Lord. Living with this surrendered heart allows us to see His Spirit at work in our lives more clearly.
Prayer- Dear God, Today I choose to surrender _______ to you. I am not meant to carry his load, stress, anxiety, or problems. I wasn't designed to, and I’m exhausted from trying to. I physically raise my hands to you now, acknowledging that it's only you who can bring lasting change or healing. I release any control or desire to fix him and trust you fully with his future. Your Word promises that you have a specific plan for his life, and I trust your sovereignty over it. I trust your timeline for his spiritual growth because I understand it's different for everyone. If there is any unsurrendered fear in my heart over his future, I release that to you right now in exchange for your supernatural peace. Your love for this man is greater than I could ever fathom, and I fully surrender him into your capable hands today. I trust your plans for him and the timing of those plans, plans to give him hope and a future (Jer. 29:11).
In Jesus Name, Amen.
Scripture to hold on to- “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jer. 29:11).
