Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know the battery is low?
A: The empty battery icon will appear and remain on the LED display when the battery level is low.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does the reading fluctuate and why is the reading different on different fingers?
A: It is normal and natural for your SpO2 and/or Pulse rate to fluctuate as the amount of arterial blood pulses and changes with each heartbeat. Also, unlike a thermometer, which gives you a snapshot of your vitals at a particular moment, the pulse oximeter measures your vitals in real-time. A ±3% fluctuation in your SpO2 is considered normal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can the 500DL Pulse Oximeter be used on children?
A: Yes. However, we highly recommend using our children pulse oximeter (B01IDMQK96) instead which is specifically made for children. The finger chamber of the 500DL Pulse Oximeter may be too big for children with small fingers. This can affect the accuracy of the reading.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I ensure a good reading?
A: 1. Warm your hands and fingers before taking the measurements by rubbing your hands together, as low blood perfusion can affect oximeter readings. About 99% of reading errors are caused by cold fingers.
2. Keep your hand still because movement can cause the device to reset its' reading.
3. Wait about 30 seconds for the readings to stabilize. Some people may require a longer time for the pulse oximeter to optimize its sensitivity, especially when your hands are cold.
4. Nail polish and false fingernails may cause false or no readings.
