Last November, Nike introduced ".Swoosh", a blockchain platform that allows users to collect and create virtual fashion items such as clothes and shoes. This item can then be used for other games or online platforms. In addition, owning an item also allows you to attend events or buy something in the real world. Today, Nike just launched the first item collection on the platform.
The collection called Our Force 1 will be open to a group of people who receive an invitation on May 8, while on May 10, it will be open to all users. Nike offers 2 boxes of items, "Classic Remix" or "New Wave"; each box costs 19.8 USD. To buy, you need to create an account on Swoosh. You will not know what is inside the box until you can open it after May 10 or leave it as it is.
A 3D file will be provided to you upon successful unboxing and can then be exported to other compatible platforms, such as a certain game title. There are more than 100,000 different shoe versions in the Our Force 1 collection, all custom-made based on the Air Force 1 line.
There are over 100,000 "Nike Virtual Creations" in the OF1 collection, and they're mostly based on the Air Force 1. If you pick a Classic Remix box, you will get a "favorite, classic archive AF1 released from 1982 to 2006" or "a more unique, custom AF1 with a nostalgic twist." Those who select New Wave will receive a "classic archive from 2007 or later" or "an expressive, custom AF1 with a more futuristic twist." There are also four designs from the winners of the company's previous "Your Force 1" contest that are in the mix across both types of boxes.
Like Nike explained when it launched. Swoosh, these digital collectibles are not just for online use. "In the near future," the company said, it "will introduce other new utilities and benefits... such as exclusive physical products or experiences."
